5 of 5 Good product but poor documentation Friday, September 19, 2008 Jason from Irvine, CA
This product DOES work but getting it to function properly takes more than just "3 Easy Steps" as described on the box. The ideal spot to mount YX300 is a wall or window where you see the most reception when you pin your phone against it. My spot turned out to be 1 feet below the ceiling in bedroom. The antenna should be hooked up to the XY300 base AFTER power comes on and a solid green light shows up. It must also be well over 10 ft away from the base unit. The advertised "4-6 ft radius coverage from antenna" worked for some people's cell and wireless broadband but it didn't work for my T-Mobile. I had to hold the antenna against back of my phone but the reception quality really DID increase from 0-1 to almost 4-5 bars! I was quite impressed with the performance after finally getting it to work. Unfortunately, the insufficient and overly simple documentation would probably frustrate many non-technical users out there when it comes to troubleshooting. Was this review helpful?

I live in a stucco house. It greatly attenuates cell phone signals. You simply stick the main box to a window, with the built in suction cups, and run the remote antenna to an area where you need to use your cell phone. Close to the remote antenna, I have 3 bars of signal instead of the 1 bar that I had. There is a LED that goes from green to red to tell you if the remote antenna is too close to the main box. The set up is so simple that the instructions are covered in a couple of lines on the outside of the package ... no surprises. The whole thing is entirely portable, so you can bring it with you when you travel. Was this review helpful?

I installed the unit in three different locations of my house and I found out that the product does not provide 4-6 ft coverage area. My T-Mobile phone does not see any improvement after 1 feet away of the black antenna. My wifes Sprint phone needs to be next to the antenna to get some improvement.
Bottom line this product did not meet my expectations because has a really poor coverage area.

The benefits of rural living end with cell phone coverage. Sometimes my phone would ring but you could never talk. sometimes you could send a text. Now the inside zone works better than advertised and I can receive and dial like pro. Was this review helpful?

The unit set up and connected with relative ease. I conducted a series of tests to determine if signal strength was improved when unit was being used. NO IMPROVEMENT AT ALL! The instruction say that you must have at least a "single bar" of signal on your cell phone for the unit to work. That is what I had. I positioned the antenna in several different positions and locations in an attempt to improve performance. Nothing. Do not waste your time or money on this thing. Worthless! Was this review helpful?
