| | | | Product Guides | | | | | The ZyXEL AG-225H is the ultimate tool for todays road warrior. It combines a 802.11a/b/g USB 2.0 adapter with a fully functional stand-alone hotspot detector in a sleek device small enough to fit in your pocket. |
| | Hotspot Finder
The ZyXEL AG-225H makes it easy to find a wireless hotspot when you are on the road. The dual-band tri-mode USB adapter is equipped with a high contrast LCD screen and built-in LiON battery, which allows you to scan the environment for hotspots without being attached to your notebook computer. From the graphic LCD display, users can scroll through hotspots to view information such as SSID, encryption requirements, signal strength, band used, and channels used.
Dual-Band Wireless Client
Due to the dual-band tri-mode nature of the AG-225H, you can easily add support for
802.11a, 802.11b, and 802.11g wireless networking standards to your desktop or laptop computer. Support for World Wide Radio (WWR) ensures no matter where you are, you will be able to interoperate with the local Wi-Fi networks. In dual-band environments, intelligent software constantly monitors the wireless connection and will change bands to avoid interference and maintain high throughput levels.
Enhanced Wireless Security
In addition to the basic 64/128-bit WEP encryption, the AG-225H features the latest wireless security mechanisms to protect your network with 802.1x authentication and WPA/WPA2. These enhanced security functions allow only authorized users to access the network, thus further protecting your data from being tapped during wireless transmission.
Turn Your Laptop into an Access Point
Not only does the AG-225H act as a hotspot finder and a client adapter, it can also turn your computer into an instant wireless access point. Perfect for conference rooms, meeting rooms, and hotels where you have one wired network connection, but multiple computer users.

5 of 5 This products works as promised. Saturday, November 08, 2008 dan from Kingwood, Texas
My wifi card in my laptop quit working, so I bought this product as a quick fix. It works great with windows vista. No problems at all. It is a little larger than some other products on the market, but the wifi finder function makes it worth the extra size. I would buy this product again. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 ZyXel WiFi Adapter is Great Tuesday, October 28, 2008 bobdadmungoaz from Tucson, AZ
This device is great as a WiFi adapter, is great as a WiFi finder, but it can also be configured as an Access Point (AP). I use it in place of a $1500 AP for my test system.
I am blown away!! Mine was on sale at Buy.com for $59.95 with the $25 rebate. I should have bought 10 of them.

I bought mine with a $25 rebate. Even without the rebate its a wortwhile device. I have been using it just to locate wifi spots and it works great. I haven't used it as a wifi adapter but i'm sure its even better than my wireless card. I wish it had a plug to insert a corded antenna. You won't be dissapointed with this product. The best part is once it finds a wifi access point it tells you if its a/b/g/n, the wifi name, what type of signal (free, pay...etc) & it gives the signal strength!!!! Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 GREAT PRODUCT !!!! Sunday, March 23, 2008 A Customer from Grand Haven, MI
Opened the box and turned it ON and identified six "HOT SPOTS", while I was sitting on my couch. I then played with it for a while and found it easy to use. Then, like a man, read the manual to confirm I didn't miss anything.
I purchased this to identify "unsecured" access, so I could check my email when I travel and saves having to boot my computer. I have a ASUS eeePC which has built in WiFi so I do not use the ZyXEL to connect, but ZyXEL has better sensitivity than the WiFi built into my computer. With that said, the eeePC's built in WiFi adapter is better than many others I have operated.
I recommend this unit highly !!!!! Was this review helpful?

2 of 5 Why do they ship old software with this? Sunday, March 09, 2008 a software engineer from Atlanta GA
This could have been much easier.
To begin with, the CD included with the item I purchased is over a year old - save yourself trouble and download the new software from the ZyXel website. You'll be forced to if you are running Vista. They don't tell you this, but the file you will download is a Zip file with a folder containing the installation. If you are running XP, the install may uncover a Microsoft problem with a Windows Update that had conflicting base addresses in modules. After forcing a Windows Update, I finally got to give it a try.
As an adapter and finder, this device is just fine. Using the AG-225 as an access point, you might find that XP will drop to BSOD and dump on you from time to time due to something Microsoft doesn't like about the driver's interaction. You definitely don't want to let the system you are hosting with go into "hibernation". Windows isn't really meant to have a "router" that comes and goes, either, so caveat emptor on using this device as |
