5 of 5 Internet Radio Organizer Thursday, November 06, 2008 efells from Essex Fells, NJ
I know you can easily repeat what this product does by surfing the net and book marking your found stations, but this product does it so much better. Plug it in and it works. I had a minor problem in that if you do not have a persistent internet connection the program will hang if you are not connected. Other than that, it works as advertised. It will provide hours of entertainment. It is a good value. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Aluratek Internet Radio Monday, October 06, 2008 A Customer from Chatsworth, GA
Product works well most of the time. Drops some stations, carries others with sound interrupts, but gives excellent performance overall. When it won't download from a click, I can download station homepages for streaming, from the device icons.
When demonstrating the product to a friend, it refused to deliver sound/download any country stations for him. I'd call this an asset, but you might not.
At least once, it has refused to download and claimed that I had an unregistered product. Haven't seen a registration prompt yet.
Delivers what it promises. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 A Great Beginning Friday, September 26, 2008 A Customer from houston TX
It is easy to plug and play. But, it gave me a message that I would have to do a "manual" load. When I clicked on the link, there was a choice of the operations manual, or a long list of drivers. Very confusing. Fortunately, a re-boot solved the problem.
I am listening to stations all over the world, with a consistent problem: signal stops and starts. This may be a problem of the internet, but it is still frustrating.
Anyhow, in about 2 years, I am sure the item will be perfected. In the meantime, this one will do.
One big issue: no launch icon and the unit does not show up in "Programs". Guess I'll just plug and unplug it as need be. Was this review helpful?

I think that convenience and portability are the strongest selling points, since most of these streams are freely available to be played with other software. This little device, though, is handy for providing the software out of the box and aggregating all these radio streams into one place, so you don't need to go searching all over the web for streams, worry about getting the right format for your software, or the right software for the format. Plus, you can take it with you and use it on any Windows 2000, XP or Vista machine with your favorites list & settings intact. (So, if you have headphones, you can take it with you to the library, your school's computer lab, etc., and still listen to your favorite streams.)
I'm not sure if I would've paid the list price for this, though, for what it is. I think this could be modified slightly to be sold (for significantly less) purely as a software package for installation on your own regular USB drive, perhaps as part of one of the portable USB systems, such as the proprietary U3, or a version that would work with the PortableApps platform. (PortableApps wouldn't put it up for distribution on their own site, since this wouldn't be open source, but, being an open system, "non-official" apps. can be added to your PortableApps platform rather easily, as I have done several times.)
As far as the problems a few others have reported, I haven't had such problems at all. Perhaps they just got faulty units. I haven't had any problems with "removing shortcuts from task bars, etc." (I'm not even sure what the other reviewer means by that) or with it "having a mind of its own" and "reloading itself." Perhaps, again, it was just a faulty unit, or there was some odd conflict with something else on the other person's computer? Mine has worked just fine so far on every computer I've tried it. I ordered Aluratek with great doubts, feeling it was probably a gimmick. I was dead wrong, it's amazing! Tune in on your computer automatically & listen to 11.l,000 radio stations from all over the world. They are indexed by geography, genre/type of music, quality, etc. Let's you rate the stations, develop favorites lists, etc.
The quality reception of many stations is amazingly good. Plug in headphones or an external speaker, etc for great
sound. Was this review helpful?

This is, without a doubt, the finest 'gadget' that I have ever
purchased. It is simple to use, and it seems that it's scope
is just endless. If it would work when I put my computer in
standby, it would be pouring out great music 12hrs. a day. Was this review helpful?

For $25 this is one of the best electronic toys I've ever bought (and I've bought many. Just plug it in and it all works perfectly the first time. It is obvious how to use it. I've had great fun traveling around the world to see what playing. Right now I'm listening to Antenne Bayern (in Germany), a very cool pop station. I travel extensively and this is going with me. 5 of 5 Neat,Sweet and cheap Monday, September 15, 2008 Charles from Brooklyn N.Y.
This device delivers in every way. I have often used the internet to search for great free radio stations to listen to. Although this little device does not have every station,it has plenty to choose from. The software makes it a snap to set up.When you move to another computer, you can take it with you .Would recommend it to anyone who enjoys music of any kind.Plus it is modestly priced.

Item received on time and plugged in without any problems. The program loaded just fine and when making a station choice worked well. The only major problem is that there is no obvious way to delete stations that were tried but found wanting. Occasionally, there is some break up even though I am on a cable modem. 5 of 5 great deal. Monday, September 15, 2008 A Customer from Virginia Beach, VA
It a great price for the product. No installation require, just plug in and play. Just to listen to radio in other Country you have to buy a special radio that cost $100-200! Was this review helpful?
