5 of 5 Survives in the most hostile environment of all... Friday, December 26, 2008 Kirin from Winston-Salem, NC
I've had this drive a little while now and I'm very happy with it. While it's a fine thing that the little guy can take immersion up to 200M, I was really needing something that could handle an envionment much more hostile... the bottom of my purse. There's no telling what my flash drive will encounter in there and I just don't have to worry anymore about assorted crud finding it's way into the plug. If anything gets on the outside... I can just wash it. And speaking of washing, while it hasn't happened yet, I feel sure it will survive the trip through the washing machine that it's bound to take given my poor record of checking my pockets prior to doing laundry.
Mine even came with a handy USB extension plug so I can use it with those g-d awful USB ports Dell put on the front of some of their older Dimension computers... you know, the ones at the funny angle obscurred by the plastic door flap where you can't see them to get it inserted properly.
As far as speed, for some reason, it was really slow when I plugged it in the first time but ever since, it's been fine. I don't transfer huge amounts of data on a regular basis but I've used it for some ginormous image files and they transferred quickly. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 solid as a rock Tuesday, December 23, 2008 A Customer from Port Charlotte, Florida
i love this drive! i have had problems with durability of my jump drives. i keep them on my keychain, and have in the past had either the keyring break off, or the board itself gets bent. this one is as solid as you can get. i look forward to seeing how much abuse it can take.
only caution is the size... keep in mind this thing is the size of or roll of quarters, and is not not the most comfortable to have in your pocket. Was this review helpful?
3 of 5 Rugged but slow Tuesday, November 11, 2008 Doug from San Diego, CA
If you want a fast read/write speed drive, do not buy this one. The case is pretty big, but seems to be rugged. It comes with a dog tag and chain so you can where it around your neck, like a true computer geek.
It does work nice, but it's slow. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great Little Flash Drive Monday, October 27, 2008 Debbie from New Jersey
Worked well right out of the package. Case is very rugged and should take any unexpected punishment that might come its way. As others have stated, it's a bit bulkier than others, but mostly due to the fact that the case is cylindrical in shape as opposed to flat. This still isn't much of a deterrent in my opinion, as this design completely encompasses the drive to add protection that's not typically found. The true size is closer to being about half the length and width as seen in the photo. I was surprised to find that there is also a 2 foot beaded "dog tag" type chain enclosed from which to optionally hang it, which, in my case, helps in quickly locating it no matter where I put it down. No problems to date - would buy again without hesitation. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Solid, findable, amazing space and price Sunday, October 26, 2008 Neil from Baltimore MD
16GB for this price is amazing. The hole on either end of the screw case design allows for you to hook either the memory stick or the cover to the ring if you choose to (or both). Personally I always like my keys on my memory stick so I can't leave w/o my USB drive. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great purchase! Monday, October 06, 2008 A Customer from New Jersey
We own several smaller 2-4Gb drives, but this was our first purchase of one with a 16Gb capacity. From the minute we plugged it in, it's worked flawlessly and my husband used it to transfer almost 3000 songs in one shot from a friend's computer to ours to add some variety to his mp3 player. True plug and play operation and the case seems extremely durable. No problems so far and a great value for the money. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 A little bulky, but hey, I was looking for somethi Wednesday, September 24, 2008 A Customer from IL
I have only been using it for a couple weeks, a couple times a week, but so far it has operated flawlessly. I replaced a much lower capacity memory stick with this. My old one had a plastic cover that had broken. I chose this memory stick because it looked like it could sustain a lot of physical abuse and not be damaged. It looks like I could run over it with a car and it would be fine--I don't think I'll be trying that though. With the rebate, and the design of the memory stick, I felt it was an excellent value. 5 of 5 I Love My Corsair 16GB Survivor! Wednesday, September 17, 2008 Master-Q from Pamdale, CA
I would highly recommend it to anyone who wanted the toughest and the large space size it offers. The TrueCrypt v6.0a encryption application is okay and confusing for me. It is open source so it free. I would like a hardware version of the encryption instead of a virtual software encryption. Overall, I would recommend to anyone. The casing is super tough and it is not as big as many people think. The thickness is about the size of a penny and the length is 3-1/4". Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great Flashdrive Tuesday, September 16, 2008 A Customer from Nashville, MI
I purchased this flashdrive because of the durability. I am a military instructor in the national guards and have to have something that can take a beating and be durable in any weather. This one so far is the best I have had. I can leave this in my pocket and not have to worry about it. I have thought now about buying the 32G version, but haven't done it yet. Great product at a super price. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Excellent Jump Drive!!! Friday, August 01, 2008 A Customer from Wonder Lake, IL
It's probably total overkill to have something that is good to 200 meters water depth, nevertheless, this thing looks like it can take a serious beating without breaking. What I also like about it is that the cover is just as large as the rest of the drive, and so it is easy to keep track of. I've nearly lost the cover to my other jump drive before because it is so small. Yes, I know about the retractable ones they make now, so you don't need a cover, but the less moving parts, the better, IMO. The $40 rebate made this a no-brainer. Was this review helpful?
