5 of 5 X-Fi-Worlds Sharpest Sound That Penetrates Even I Friday, December 19, 2008 Ravi Sankar from Bangalore
This is Ravi Sankar from INDIA,
My Rating will be 4.75/5
Let me divide my preferences based on the dimensions
Price/Performance-5/5
User Interface-4.5/5
Sound Quality-
With Crystallizer-5/5
Without Crystallizer-4/5
Build Quality: Senior user should tell this as I am new user
Gaming Performance: 5/5
Comaptibility-3/5
Let me briefly tell about the compatibility of this card,
It is giving some crackling and popping sounds with some mother boards. First the vendors suspected this problem is coming only with nForce chipsets but this problem is coming randomly in motherboards, Vendors Claimed that this problem resolved in Titanium series but this problem not yet resolved. Once it is compatible to any motherboard it will work fine forever otherwise it will give problems from starting itself.
Coming to the software that comes with X-Fi, X-Fi Crystallizer is very worth and CMSS 3D is absolutely useless and waste. My previous sound card was Sound Blaster Live Value!, the software that came with it was GREAT as it does contain so many music instruments MIDI software like Rythmania, SB Live Demo etc.
At this point of time, X-Fi sits top most of all the sound cards and kicks all. I have M-Audio Revolution, Razer AC-3 Barracuda Sound cards also, compared X-Fi with these, X-Fi is enormously greater than the others.
I will recommend this card 100%. Thank you for reading. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great Buy Saturday, September 06, 2008 R. Scott Malone L.Ac. from Westminster, CO
This item with the rebate was around $50 less than it would have cost at best Buy. It came quickly in th email and was a breeeze to install. I had to update the drivers from the creative site and then it was smooth sailing.
Great product, great price.
Thanks Buy.com!

4 of 5 You'll like it Tuesday, July 29, 2008 jimboww from Orlando, FL
Real nice card. In gaming mode, versus entertainment mode, you can crank up the graphic settings for COD 4 for improved perfomance. Make sure you get the $30 rebate, otherwise, it's overpriced at $80. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great sound quality Monday, June 30, 2008 Troy Brown from Pooler, GA
I bought this as a replacement to my SB Audigy. The clarity and dynamics when playing music as compared to the Audigy are incredible. There are 3 customizable modes Entertainment, Games, and Audio Creation, that can be switched to instantly with a toolbar function. A great card for the money. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great Soundcard Friday, June 13, 2008 jdproductions321 from West Linn, OR
I got this card for cheap with a mail in rebate. Buy.com shipped it quickly and it arrived in perfect condition. This product is exactly what I suspected it would be, and it works great with all my computing applications. I mostly love it for playing games (especially battlefield 2) because that is where I see the biggest difference in audio quality. The only problem (which isn't really a problem) I have had with this card was that it was a little hard to install and get used to all its features. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Awesome card for gaming Monday, April 14, 2008 yonderB from San Francisco, CA
PROS: Card sounds great. Playing my games and it gives such great detail that my old Audigy didn't deliver. Simulates surround sound on headphones extremely well. Cool feature is that is can simulate indoor & outdoor environments in my games extremely well.

CONS: Drivers that came in the box were bad. Crashed my system and was unable to startup. I uninstalled it and used the newest drivers on Creative's website. It works perfectly now. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Real X-Fi with Crystallizer Monday, March 17, 2008 Thisis.ravi538 from Bangalore
I brought X-Fi Xtreme Gamer and This is my Review...Profs followed by Cons followed by Others.
Profs,
Great sound with Crystallizer, This card is scrap if there is no crystallizer.
If Creative can implement 192 Khz sampling rate with X-fi along with the Crystallizer that would be worlds richest sound.
The processor utilization is less than one percent. I would highly recommend this card for Gamers.
If the User is not Gamer they Can enjoy the same sound with X-Fi Xtreme Audio (This is 20$ cheaper than the Xtreme Gamer Card), here main Processor will take the sound processing job
If found in many websites telling that X-fi is not compatible the NVidia nForce4 chip set, but My Mother board (ASUS M2N MX SE) is using Nvidia Nforce 430 chipset, north bridge, but My X-fi Xtreme gamer card is working fine
Cons, From Here,
Sound output and Quality will be reduced if you connect Speakers (in Switch ON state) and Headphones simultaneously or two sets of head phones simultaneously. I got the same problem with my Audigy Card also but I was NOT getting this problem with my last sound card Sound Blaster Live Value!
There is no much MIDI related softwares like Rythamnia with Sound Blaster Live Value!
Sampling rate is only 96Khz with this but even some Mid end cards are giving 192 khz sampling rate ex : M-Audio revolution 5.1 (Sampling rate directly proportional to the Quality of sound)
Others, From here
Creative folks should upgrade the Media Source 5 to play real media and VOB (DVD) files as well.
Littlie bit confused by looking at the supported sampling rates and bit width of the card at System information under the specifications of Wave in/out devices as there is showing only 96Khz @ 16-bit instead of 96Khz @ 24-bit. Creative folks should explain this.

5 of 5 Fixed my problem Wednesday, March 12, 2008 A Customer from Tampa, FL
I just use my sound card to listen to music. I had an old Audigy 2 that for some reason was crackling and popping in the left channel, as verified by speakers and headphones. I ordered the X-Fi Xtreme Gamer, and very easily installed the new sound card. Problem solved. Nice clear sound to listen to my favorite music, with no more crackling and popping!
